Michael Joseph Sullivan passed away at home, on April 25th , at the age of 79. Michael was born and raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1943. He entered the US Navy in 1943 and served during WWII, he was reactivated in 1947 and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Sullivan worked for the New England Telephone Company for 39 years, the last several years in management. Michael has been a resident of Melrose for the past 47 years, was a devoted husband, father and family man. He was a member of the St. Marys Church and Incarnation Church in Melrose. Michael was the husband of 56 years to Barbara A. (McManus) Sullivan. Father of Michael P. Sullivan & his wife Maria of CA, Elaine Dixon & her husband Gary of Lynn, Paul Sullivan & his wife Maria of Peabody, Daniel J. Sullivan of ME, Lawrence Sullivan of Melrose, Nancy A. McLaughlin & her husband Donald of NH and the late Stephen Sullivan. Brother of Agnes McGonagle of Billerica, Thomas Sullivan of ME, Maureen Bruno of Canton, Arlene Gorski of Wilmington, Jean Doyle of Tewksbury, and the late Anne Griffin, Frances Berkeley, Lawrence & Robert Sullivan. Grandfather of Sean, Melissa, Kerry, Stephen, Christina, Brian, Conor, Emily, John & Patrick. Great grandfather of Kaysa & Melia. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. April 28th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited.
