Milton L. Parrott of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA. He was 90 years old. Born on July 6, 1919 in Hanover, New Hampshire to the late Leon & Emma Mae (Plamondon) Parrott, he was raised in White River Junction, Vermont and graduated from Hartford High School, class of 1937. Mr. Parrott served proudly in the United States Army during WWII as a technician 5th grade with the 9th Division Battery A, 26th Field Artillery Battalion and received the Purple Heart with 6 service stars. He fought in Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Northern France, Normandy & Germany as a forward observer. After the war, he worked with the New England Telephone Company for 32 years. Milton enjoyed golf and was a member of the Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Club. In addition to golf (his first love), he enjoyed caning chairs, repairing antique clocks, feeding the backyard birds and observing the seasons on the cranberry bog in Centerville where he resided for over 30 years. He was a baseball coach and loved watching baseball, football and basketball. Mr. Parrott was the devoted husband of Doris E. (Perkins) Parrott with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Thomas L. Parrott & his companion Nancy Gallo of Nahant, Gerald E. Parrott & his wife Kathy of Barre, VT. & Karen L. Parrott of Acton. Cherished grandfather of Jayson & David Parrott, Brooke (Parrott) Nadzam & Nina Parrott. Great grandfather of Matthew Parrott & Rachel Gordon. Caring brother of Norma Hamel of Norwich, VT & the late Rae Parrott. Funeral service in the Gately Funeral home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sat. Sept. 12th at 11AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Interment in VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA on Monday, Sept. 14th at 1:30PM.
