Obituary

Mort Davoren died after a long illness October 6th at Life Care Center of Stoneham. Mort was born in Moycullen Irealnd, raised in Ireland and came to the United States in 1950 at the age of 26. He worked as a meat cutter for the 1st National Stores in Malden, Medford, Wellington and surrounding areas for many years. After the 1st National Stores went out of business he worked for 5 years as a meat cutter at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford. Mort has been living in Malden since 1964, was a member of the Irish American Club in Malden and a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church in Malden. He was the husband of Lily (O'Reilly) Davoren. Father of Paul E. Davoren of Malden, Anne E. Lucas & her husband Tom of Winchester, Lisa M. Alviti & her husband Carl of W.Peabody and Shelia M. McDonnell & her husband Patrick of Melrose. Brother of John Davoren of W.Roxbury, Bridget Nestor of Everett, Kitty Davoren, Judy Davoren, Maura Killian all of Ireland and Kevin Davoren of England. Grandfather of Paul, Ryan, Joshua, Brendan, Patrick, Corey, Celia, John, Gabrielle and Bridget. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. Oct. 10th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 770 Salem St. Malden at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Burial in Forest Dale Cemetery Malden. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham 01701.
