Moya P. Gullage passed away at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading, on February 22, 2014 at the age of 83. She was born in Melrose on December 18, 1930, was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School and St. Mary's High School, Class of 1949. Moya entered the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus Order in 1950 as Mother John Mark and taught in various catholic schools throughout New York. She received her BS in French from Fordham in 1959 and Masters in 1962 and studied French at the Institut Catholique in Paris in 1965. After teaching and working as a principal in the school system of the SHCJ, Moya became the religious editor & chief for the Sadlier Publishing Company in New York City from 1979-1987. Miss Gullage left the Society in 1993 and returned home to her roots in the Melrose area. She has been a resident at Brooksby Village in Peabody for the past 8 years. Moya was the daughter of the late Henry J. & Mary (McDermott) Gullage. Sister of the late Joan (Gullage) Driscoll and her late husband Bob. Aunt of Mark Driscoll of Melrose, Kevin Driscoll & his wife Lauren of Norton and Rosemary Dissel & her husband Keith of Reading. Great aunt of Spencer & Donovan Driscoll. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, March 3rd from 9:30-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
