Nancy A. (Mahoney) Harris, a resident of Melrose, Orange and North Fort Myers, FL. passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Fort Myers, FL after an illness. She was 66 years old. Born on June 21, 1941, the daughter of John Mahoney and Helen (Quinlivin) Mahoney. She was raised in Arlington and Winthrop, MA. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph's Academy in Brighton, MA in 1959, and worked as an assistant for the Suffolk County Court. Later in her professional life Nancy had a successful career with the Veteran's Administration. After her retirement she and her husband lived in Orange, MA and Fort Myers, FL. Nancy was married to William J. Harris on May 21, 1966. The couple moved to Melrose, MA where they raised four children and lived for 35 years. In addition to being a loving mother, Nancy was involved in her community. She was an active volunteer in the Melrose Public Schools and the Cub Scouts, taught CCD for Saint Mary's Church in Melrose, and was committed to the many friendships she fostered as a member of several clubs. She will be remembered and missed by her husband of 42 years, William J. Harris, her daughter Kathleen Harris, of Melrose, her daughter Maureen McEnaney and her husband Michael of Kennebunk, her son Frederick Harris and his wife Claire of Dorchester and her daughter Christine Harris of Malden. Six grandchildren, her sister Claire Flynn and her husband William of Hanover, her brothers John Mahoney (deceased), Jeremiah (Jerry) Mahoney of Las Vegas and Robert Mahoney of Arlington and scores of friends and relatives whose lives she affected. Also survived by several nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Fri. May 16th at 9AM.
