Neil J. Fairneny Jr. passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, on Thursday, October 31, 2013 after a brief illness. He was only 29 years of age. Neil was born in Stoneham on October 23, 1984, was raised in Melrose, Malden & Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 2001. He lived in Woburn for 4 years and the past 2 years in Salem. He worked fixing gaming machines, was a graphic designer, loved computers and music. Mr. Fairneny enjoyed going fishing with his Dad, trips to Lake Winnipesaukee, Weirs Beach, the Salem Willows and target shooting. Neil was the beloved son of Neil J. Fairneny Sr. & Judith A. (Rahilly) Fairneny of Melrose. Loving brother of Michelle R. Fairneny of Dorchester. Devoted godfather and uncle of Angel Fairneny. Cherished grandson of Frances Rahilly of Melrose. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM, followed by a prayer service at 8PM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private.
