Nicholas M. DiLoreto passed away suddenly at Cape Cod Hospital on Friday September 6, 2013 at the age of 77. He was born in Milford on June 26, 1936 to the late Michele & Elizabeth (Stella) DiLoreto. Nick was raised in North Cambridge, graduated from St. John's High School in Cambridge and Northeastern University. Mr. DiLoreto served in the US Army during the Korean War as a motion picture photographer and while stationed in Japan he achieved the rank of Sergeant at the age of 19. He worked in various capacities in the petroleum industry for many years before retiring in 2001. An avid runner, Nick completed over 20 marathons including the Boston, Lowell, Falmouth and Bermuda marathons. He was an avid reader, enjoyed computers, taking walks and loved to spend time with his family. Nick was the beloved husband of 54 years to Barbara A. (White) DiLoreto. Devoted father of Leslie Robich of Winchester, Lisa Frerichs & her husband Scott of Delaware, Nick DiLoreto & his wife Lisa of NY and Anthony DiLoreto & his wife Michele of Holden. Loving brother of Reverend Anthony DiLoreto of Idaho and the late Emidio & Joseph DiLoreto. Cherished grandfather of Rachel Robich, Nicole, Katrina & Leah Frerichs, Nicholas III, Gabriella, Michael & Brianna DiLoreto and Elizabeth, Danielle, Matthew, Katherine & Sophia DiLoreto. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, September 13th from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home at 8:45AM on Saturday Sept. 14th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington St. Winchester, at 10AM.
