Norman J. Gagnon passed away at the Wingate Nursing Home in Reading on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was 85 years of age. Norman was born in Melrose to the late Arthur & Helen (Moriarty) Gagnon, was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. Mr. Gagnon was a member of the greatest generation and served his country with pride in the United States Army during WWII. Norman worked as a mechanic in the trucking division at the Honeywell Corporation for several years before becoming a plant maintenance supervisor for the MWRA. He worked at the Dear Island Plant for 25 years retiring in 1994. Mr. Gagnon has been a resident of Wakefield since 1956, he loved to garden, build clocks, could fix anything, enjoyed being around his family and working around his home. Norman also enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton & Daytona Florida with his wife Doris. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Doris (D'Entremont) Gagnon. Devoted father of Norman J. Gagnon & his wife Jane of Stoneham, Michael J. Gagnon of Melrose and the late Peter J. Gagnon & Stephen J. Gagnon. Loving grandfather of Sara, Susie & David Gagnon. Caring brother of Geraldine McGrath of Kingston and the late Arthur Gagnon Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, June 24th at 8:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
