Orland W. Red Stevenson passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on May 30, 2007. He was 79 years of age. Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Red came to Malden as a young boy, he was raised in Malden and attended Malden high School where he played football & ran track. Mr. Stevenson was a US Army Korean War Veteran and has been a resident of Melrose for over 45 years. His family was first and foremost in his life; he loved animals and his trips back to PEI. Mr. Stevenson worked as a machinist for Lawson Tool Company in Malden for many years and for the Vatco Company in Boston. After his retirement he continued to work, driving the courtesy van for the Guest Quarters Hotel in Cambridge for several years. Red was the husband of Lorraine C. (Graffam) Stevenson. Father of Glenn A. Stevenson of Melrose, Warren O. Stevenson & his wife Deborah of Townsend, Gail M. Burns & her husband Joseph of Malden and Marlene Stevenson of Melrose. Grandfather of Warren O. Jr., Daniel K., Ashley J. Stevenson & Janine G. Burns. Funeral services will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday June 4th at 11AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
