IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia A. "Pat"
Mahoney

Visitation
Mass
Patricia A. “Pat” Mahoney, 87, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln on March 16, 2026.
Born on March 6, 1939 , in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Abina (Lucey) Sullivan. She lived briefly in Wakefield before moving with her parents to Malden, where she remained a lifelong resident. Pat was raised in the Edgeworth section of Malden until moving to the West End following her marriage. She graduated from Girls Catholic High School in 1956, where she formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation she worked at Malden City Hall until beginning her career as a wife, mother and homemaker.
On a summer weekend getaway to Manomet with a friend, Pat had a chance encounter that would change her life. While, as she would fondly recall, “looking for boys”, she met a young man who introduced him to his single brother, Paul Mahoney. Her initial impression was not encouraging, however he eventually won her over. They were married on October 20, 1962 at St. Peter’s church in Malden, and shared 46 loving years of marriage until Paul’s passing in 2009.Pat was a devoted parishioner of the former St. Peter’s church until it’s closing and later became an active member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a regular communicant at the Saturday 4pm mass at both parishes.
With her kind and gentle demeanor, she endeared herself to all who knew her. She took great pride in her neighborhood on “the Circle” on Upland Road and cherished the friendships she built there with her neighbors over the 55 years she lived there.
An avid walker, Pat was known for her determination and quiet humor. Given her short stature, she would often say “I don’t walk fast, but I can walk far”. Pat was a passionate Boston sports fan and greatly enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. As much as she enjoyed professional sports, she took immense pride and joy in watching her grandchildren play various sports at different levels as well as watching dance recitals, parades and baton twirling competitions. Pat treasured her annual vacations to the Cape with her extended family, creating countless, cherished memories.
Above all, Pat was devoted to her family. She was always ready with a warm smile, a kind word and an abundance of love. She delighted in the accomplishments and happiness of her children and grandchildren, offering unwavering support in all their endeavors. She was truly happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Pat’s life was a testament to her thoughtful and loving nature.
Her family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the compassionate staff at Forestdale Park Senior Living for the care and kindness shown to Pat in her later years and Care Dimensions Hospice for making her final journey as comfortable as possible.
Pat was the beloved wife of the late Paul B. Mahoney. She was the loving mother of Karen E. Keller and her husband Mark of Chelmsford, Kelly A. Whitley and her husband Eric of Niskayuna, NY, and Paul B. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Karen of Stoneham. She was the cherished Nana of Mark Keller and his wife Catherine of Westford, Matthew Keller of Westford, Garrett Whitley and his wife Kasey of San Diego, Aaron Whitley and Lindsey Whitley of Niskayuna, NY and Hannah Mahoney and Patrick Mahoney of Stoneham. She is also survived by her dear cousin, Anne Alsmeyer and her husband Carl of West Newton, along with many extended members of the Mahoney family.
