Obituary

Patrick T. Boyle, 77, of Saugus, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 15, 1948, Patrick was proudly raised in the Newtown Court housing projects of East Cambridge by the late Patrick and Mary Boyle. From humble beginnings, he built a life defined by hard work, generosity, humor, and deep devotion to family and friends.

Patrick met the love of his life, Cynthia H. Boyle (Cavanagh), and together they shared 47 years of marriage, raising four children and creating a home filled with laughter, stories, and steadfast support. His devotion to his wife and family was absolute, and the life they built together was one of joy, travel, and enduring partnership.

A lifelong educator and craftsman, Patrick dedicated 35 years to Middlesex Community College in Bedford, where he served as a professor of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), department chair, and advisory board member. Over the course of his career, he shaped the professional paths of hundreds—if not thousands—of students through his teaching, mentorship, and advocacy. In recognition of his lasting impact, Patrick was awarded emeritus status in 2021.

In addition to his academic career, Patrick worked as a building contractor and independent businessman, most notably with Axcelis Technologies in Beverly. Whether in a classroom or helping a friend with a home project, he was practical, skilled, and generous with his time.

Patrick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cynthia H. Boyle (Cavanagh), and by his siblings Mary Normile, Paul Boyle, Nancy Burke, Robert Boyle, Judy Eccles, and Joan Boyle.

He is survived by his children Brian Boyle and his wife Melissa of Beverly; Stephen Boyle and his wife Chrystal of Saugus; Julie Boyle of Stoneham; and Patrick L. Boyle of Stoneham, and by his six cherished grandchildren—Walter, Lily, Hannah, Ethan, Finnian, and Riley—who meant everything to him. He is also survived by his devoted friend of eight years, Suzanne Romaniuk Ryan of Marshfield.

Patrick is further survived by his brother James Boyle of Arlington and his wife Donna, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
