Patrick E. Granfield, of Melrose, died at the Benchmark Senior Living in Woburn on June 2, 2018 at the age of 92. Pat was born & raised in Medford and a graduate of Medford High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's & master's degrees from Boston University. Pat resided in Medford until the age of 32 and Melrose since 1958. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army during WWII. Pat worked as a Teacher for the Medford High School for many years before his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Melrose VFW, Knights of Columbus and the Massachusetts Teacher's Assoc., for many years. Pat loved spending time at his family home in W. Dennis on Cape Cod and wintered in Naples, Fl for 15 years. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Bermuda, Ireland and driving cross country several times with his wife. Pat loved the Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and playing tennis. He was the beloved husband of the late Priscilla J. (Mahoney) Granfield for 60 years. Loving father of Jacqueline Ferguson & her husband James of Manchester, NH, and Maria Granfield of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Erin & Molly Ferguson. Caring brother of Edward Granfield of Medford and the late John Granfield & his late wives Josephine & Margaret, late Joseph Granfield & his late wife Barbara, Late Alexander "Sandy" Granfield, Jr. & his wife Eleanor, late Mary Granfield, late William & his wife Carol, and the late Thomas Granfield. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, June 7 from 4-7PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, June 8 at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM.
