Patrick J. Henaghan, 66, of Medford, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Boston, Pat was a devoted son to the late Patrick F. and Veronica (Byrne) Henaghan.

He is survived by his brother, Michael D. Henaghan, of North Kingstown, RI; his niece, Marissa O'Connor and her husband William, of Cranston, RI; and his nephew, Daniel Henaghan of Denver, CO. He was the cherished great-uncle of Delaney and Everly O'Connor. He was predeceased by his beloved sister-in-law, Patricia Henaghan.

Pat was a lifelong resident of Medford. He graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1975, and received his B.A. from Boston College in 1979. He went on to receive a Master's Degree from Middlebury College School of Spanish in Madrid in 1980. After completing his education, he began his teaching career at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody. After 3 years there, he moved on to St. John's Prepatory School in Danvers, where he remained for 34 years, until his retirement in 2017.

At St. John's Prep, Pat was a respected teacher and highly valued department head. He led several student trips to Spain and other European countries, curating unforgettable experiences for them. As a devoted teacher, he had a profound impact on the lives of many students, building lasting friendships which he cherished deeply. His sense of humor and sharp wit earned him many loyal friends who are devastated by his passing. He loved sharing meals with his friends and former students and was a great source of advice and counsel to many.

Pat had a love for music and was a proud, self-taught, guitar player. He played the bass guitar in a blues band for many years and often travelled to Mississippi to attend concerts and performances at small venues.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 14th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday, April 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
