Obituary

Paul Joseph Ardizzoni,(Arda) 65 years old, died suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep on April 10, 2026.

Born on November 21, 1960 in Winchester Massachusetts, to John and Suzanne Ardizzoni. Paul grew up in Somerville Massachusetts until age 10, when he and his family moved to Melrose in 1971. Growing up, Paul was a gifted athlete excelling at baseball, hockey and golf. Paul was also a talented student. In high school he immersed himself in the industrial arts, especially carpentry, which became his passion and he would soon make a career out of it.

Graduating high school in 1978, Paul became an apprentice at Home Improvement Engineers. He would soon take over the business and rename it Ardizzoni Home Improvements. Paul would work 45+ years as a highly sought after Master Carpenter and Craftsman in and around Melrose. Some customers waited over a year for his services. There is barely a street in Melrose where he didn’t leave his everlasting craftsmanship. Paul was passionate and a perfectionist about his work and his customers recognized and appreciated it.

Paul married the love of his life Diane Hamilton, also from Melrose, in 1993 and settled in Melrose. They were blessed with two beautiful children Paul Jr (Paulie) and Rachel. Paul was a baseball coach for his son Paul Jr during his early years as a baseball player. He loved watching him advance as he grew older and playing at the high school level. Paul also loved watching Rachel, a gifted gymnast excel and compete at gymnastic competitions.

Paul and Diane also owned a vacation home on Bow Lake in Strafford, NH and it became their happy place. Paul worked for years with improvements and updates making it their dream escape and vacation home. There Paul would enjoy doing hardscape and landscaping, boating, fishing, birdwatching and golf. He loved playing golf with his son Paul Jr but especially loved it when they played up at Bow Lake. He loved taking the whole family for sunset cruises on the lake or an afternoon of fishing along with the kids dogs.

Paul is survived by his adoring wife Diane, and children Paulie (Paul Jr.) and Rachel. His parents John and Suzanne Ardizzoni. Brother Jack Ardizzoni (Susan), sister Elaine Parker (Mark) and sister Amy High (Tim). He is also survived by his nephews Jay Ardizzoni, Mark Parker, Andrew Hamilton, Daniel Face, Zachary Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton, Alex Hamilton, and Samuel Hamilton. His nieces Alyssa (Ardizzoni) DeRoche, Emma Ardizzoni, Samantha Parker, Sarah Parker, Abigail High, Margaret High, Lyndsay O’Leary and Meghan Hamilton. Paul is also survived by his great nephews Johnny and Anthony Ardizzoni and his great niece Scarlett DeRoche.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, from 3:00pm - 7:00pm on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be held at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose, at 11:00am on Friday, April 17th, 2026.
