Paul D. Carlberg passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his home in Melrose. He was 71 years of age. Paul was born in Melrose on November 29, 1938 to the late Carl & Vera (Lindell) Carlberg. He was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1956. Paul moved back to Melrose in 1961 and has been a resident for the past 49 years. He served in the US Army National Guard for 3 years. Mr. Carlberg worked as a banker for County Savings Bank & Atlantic Savings Bank both in Chelsea for many years and then for East Boston Savings Bank for several years. Paul was a longtime member of the Melrose Fish & Game Club; he enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. Mr. Carlberg loved the times spent at his home on Old Ham Pond in Pembroke where he summered since he was 2 years old. Paul was the beloved husband of the late Edna R. (Williams) Carlberg. Devoted father of Donald J. Carlberg & his wife Jodi of Derry, NH. Cherished grandfather of Jackson & Jamie Carlberg. Brother of David Carlberg & his wife Eleanor of Wakefield and Robert Carlberg & his wife Deborah of Melrose. Best friend & "2nd son" to Ken Trant of Pembroke. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, February 16th at 11AM.
