Obituary

Paul H. Caron passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on January 12, 2016 at the age of 85. Paul was born in Melrose on June 11, 1930 to Elzear & Louise (Doucette) Caron, was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1948 and has been a lifelong resident. He entered the service in 1952 and served his country with pride in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Caron was awarded 2 bronze stars during his tour of duty. During his high school years he worked for Deering Lumber in Melrose and after the service he worked as a Genealogist for the Goodspeeds Company in Boston for over 35 years. Mr. Caron was also very involved the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 in Melrose. Paul had many positions at the club throughout the years. He served as past president, treasurer, post commander, as a member of the drill team and was very involved with the running of the building. Mr. Caron was the canteen manager at the building from the 1950's all the way to 2010 and was involved with the different renovations thru the years. Paul was a passionate Patriots fan and held season tickets from the start of the team right up to Gillette Stadium, running many bus trips to the games over a span of many years. He was a Boston Bruins fan, a Boston sports fan, he enjoyed following Melrose High School sports teams and a Red Sox fan taking trips down to spring training on many occasion. Paul was the beloved husband of Charlotte M. (Adams) Caron. Cherished father of Paul H. Caron Jr. & his wife Susan of Melrose, Cynthia M. Caron of Melrose and John M. Caron of Wakefield. Caring grandfather of Frederick P. Caron & Toni-Marie Caron. Proud great grandfather of Emma & Shaylyn. Loving brother of Thomas Peter Caron of FL. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10:00AM. Burial with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
