Paul G. "Dewey" Doucette, Jr. passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Saturday, August 4, 2012. He was 61 years of age. Dewey was born in Melrose on June 30, 1951 to the late Paul G. Sr. & Irma (Bushee) Doucette. He was raised in Melrose, attended St. Mary's Grammar School and Melrose High School before entering the US Army. Mr. Doucette served his country with great pride from 1970 to 1976 during the Vietnam War. Paul worked as a truck driver for the K Ross Company, and at Polaroid and Serva-Mation in Stoneham for several years. Dewey was well known at the VFW Harold O'Young Post # 2394 in Melrose. He worked as a bartender for many years, was a past Commander, served on the board of directors and was Assistant Canteen Manager at the club. He was an avid fisherman, loved the Red Sox and the N.E. Patriots and enjoyed watching golf on TV. Dewey was a kind hearted gentleman who was the first to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. Mr. Doucette also loved his yearly trips to Las Vegas and California with family friend, Fran. Dewey was the father of Steffanie Fahey of Stoneham & Paul G. Fahey of Peabody. Brother of Linda J. Collins & her husband Bob of CA, Janis Doucette and her partner, William Berry of N. Reading, Larry J. Doucette & his wife Nancy of Wakefield and Marie P. Crowell & her husband Glenn of Melrose. Grandfather of 3. Uncle of Josh & Jared Crowell, Dennis & Mark Lawhorne, Sandra Slaght & Jennifer Ryan, also survived by several other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. A Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, August 8th at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Internment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
