Paul J. "Chick" Galvin of Saugus, died at his home on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 8, 1930 in Charlestown to the late Arthur & Joanna (Buckley) Galvin, he was raised in Melrose and a 1950 graduate of Melrose High School. He served 3 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later worked as a Manager for 28 years with the Cerretani Grocery Stores in Melrose & Revere. After that, Mr. Galvin worked as a private contractor with the United States Postal Service for 8 years. Chick was a Saugus resident for 50 years and an avid Boston sports fan especially loving the Patriots where he was a season ticket holder for many years. He also enjoyed Jazz Music however; his life was all about supporting his family. He was a family man and always made them his priority; working 12-14 hours days. He was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Driscoll) Galvin, loving father of Lynda A. Garniss & her husband Mark of Saugus, Paul J. Galvin & his wife Karen of Tewksbury & Catherine M. Wilson & her husband Daniel, also of Tewksbury. Cherished grandfather of Colleen Nimblett, Kerry Galvin, Kristen, Courtney & Daniel Wilson. Caring brother of Marianna Cerretani & her husband John of Stoneham & the late Arthur & Charles Galvin. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sat., Jan. 31st at 10AM. Funeral Mass in St. Margaret's Church 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus at 11AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Fri. 4-8PM.
