Paul J. Comeau passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on July 9, 2014. Paul was born in Everett, raised in Everett, graduated from Boston College High School, Class of 1951 and from Boston College, Class of 1955. After graduation from college Paul joined the United States Navy and served as a Naval Pilot for 4 years on active duty and spent 20 years in the US Navy Reserves, specializing in submarine detection. He retired as a LT Commander. Mr. Comeau worked in sales for IBM for 27 years and has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years. Paul was an avid golfer, was a longtime member of Bellevue Golf Club and was a Past President at Bellevue. He loved skiing, playing racquetball, sailing and continued to fly recreationally throughout his life. Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife May back to visit family in Nova Scotia, to Atlantic City and going on the golf trips to St. Kitts with all his Bellevue friends. Mr. Comeau was the beloved husband of 56 years to May M. (Comeau) Comeau. Devoted father of David Comeau & his wife Anne of Peabody and the late Karen A. Comeau. Loving grandfather of Daniel Paul Comeau of Peabody. Caring brother of Margaret Small & Stella Comeau both of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, July 17th at 9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM. Interment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
