Paul W. Mantero, of Lawrence, formerly of Malden & Melrose, died unexpectedly at home on Feb. 22, 2016 at the age of 67. Paul was born in Somerville, raised in Medford and attended Medford schools. He resided in Medford until the age of 25, Malden for 19 years, Melrose for several years and the past 22 years in Lawrence. Paul worked in Maintenance for several Melrose apartment buildings for over 33 years before his retirement. He was a "Jack of all trades" and could fix anything & would help anyone that asked. Paul was a friendly quiet man, kind & gentle soul, a proud man, loved to talk, and a real gentlemen. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, the New England Patriots and spending time with his dog "brown eyed baby" Buttercup. Paul was a great husband, "the greatest dad" and loved all animals. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Charlotte T. (Lepore) Mantero. Loving father of Lisa A. Valdivieso & her boyfriend Eric Santos of Haverhill and Christina M. Mantero Villanueva & her husband Cristian of East Boston. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Jared, Xavier, Isaiah, Cristian and Juliana. Caring brother of Robert Kulas & his late wife Virginia of Somerville, Josephine Guillama & her late husband Rolando of Melrose and the late Leroy Mantero. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, Feb 25th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday Feb. 26th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
