Paul B. Montague, of Melrose, died on Saturday July 10th at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody after a long illness at the age of 79. Paul was born & raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. He lived in Melrose for over 50 years and spent the last12 winters in Vero Beach, FL. Mr. Montague worked as a machinist for Standard Rivet Company in Boston for 28 years and then for G.C.A. Corp. of Andover for 9 years. Paul was a longtime member of St. Marys Church in Melrose and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was the loving husband of Velna (Godbout) Montague for 60 Years. Devoted father of Nancy McGinnis of RI, Dianne McQuillan & her husband Paul of Melrose, Thomas Montague of NH, and James Montague, of Melrose. Cherished brother of Harry V. Montague Jr. of FL & Phyllis McNeil of AZ. Caring grandfather of Jennifer Rousseau, Derek McQuillan, Lawrence McGinnis, Renee Scola and Coleen Montague. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday July 14th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Marys Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
