Paul G. Swindlehurst, of Venice, FL, formerly of Melrose & Wakefield, died at his home on Feb. 28, 2005 at the age of 76. Paul was born & raised in Melrose, was a 1947 graduate of Melrose High School and went on to receive his B.S. in Business from Northeastern University. He served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany with a company whose nickname was Hell on Wheels. Paul retired in 1992 after a successful 30 year career in sales for Quebecor, Inc., and moved to Venice, FL. Prior to retirement, he lived in Wakefield for more than 20 years while raising his family, later living in both Maryland and Geneva, IL. Paul enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, baking and spending his summers in Truro on the Cape. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus & St. Marys Church in Melrose, the Mens Club at the YMCA and Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield, as well as the Venice East Golf Club for many years. Paul was the devoted husband of Deborah Swindlehurst and the late Doris F. (Shiebler) Swindlehurst. Loving father of Paul G. Swindlehurst Jr. & his wife Jan of Stoneham, Robert F. Swindlehurst & his wife Elizabeth Hennessey of Orono, ME, Linda M. Fogden & her husband Gerard of Andover, Cathyann M. Swindlehurst of Marblehead and John G. Swindlehurst & his wife Ann-Marie of Walpole. Stepfather of Kimberly Chester & her husband David of Sherborn and Christopher Wharff & his wife Lori of ME. Cherished grandfather of Kelly, Jessica, Caitlin, Brianna and Theresa. Also survived by several beloved nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sat. March 19th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM.
