Paul H. Walsh passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He was only 63 years of age. Paul was born in Boston on November 7, 1949 to the late John & Doris (Hines) Walsh. He was raised in West Roxbury, graduated from Catholic Memorial High School, St. Anselm College in NH and received his Masters in history from University of Massachusetts Boston. Mr. Walsh worked as an environmental planner for the Department of Environmental Protection for over 25 years and was also an Adjunct Professor of History at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston. Paul has been a resident of Melrose since 1992, was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose and was a proud member of the Stonehammer Team. Mr. Walsh loved to read, was a big Celtics basketball fan and loved to take long walks. Paul enjoyed being Irish, loved taking trips to Ireland, Cape Cod and Maine with his family. Mr. Walsh was the beloved husband of Rosemary Healey-Walsh. Loving father of Brenna Elizabeth Walsh. Loving son of the late John & Doris Walsh. Brother of Jack Walsh & his wife Scottie of W. Roxbury, Tom Walsh & his wife Kathy of Wellesley, Jimmy Walsh & his wife Lynn of MD and the late Peter Walsh. Son-in-law of Joan Healey of Malden & the late Bob Healey. Brother-in-law of John & Chrissy Healey of Melrose. Also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 4 Myrtle St. Melrose, MA 02176.
