Paula Marie (Antanelis) Casey, of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose, passed away at the High Pointe House Hospice in Haverhill on March 18, 2022.
Born in Boston, MA to Dr. Joseph and Anna Antanelis.
Raised in South Boston, she attended St. Peter's Elementary School, Cardinal Cushing High School (1961) and Boston State College with a degree in Elementary Education (1965) and Masters of Education (1970).
She was crowned Queen of the Eastern States Exposition "The Big E" in 1964.
Paula taught Kindergarten in Boston Public Schools and taught elementary school at St. Mary's School in Melrose. She later served as a substitute teacher within the Melrose Public Schools for many years.
Paula served as a member of the Washington School PTA and was a dedicated instructor in the St. Mary's Religious Education program. Her strong Christian Faith and trust in Jesus, was the source of her strength through challenges in life.
Paula found time to enjoy gardening, was graced with a talent for still life painting but her main focus was that of her family. She enjoyed beautiful afternoons sitting outside, listening to birds& soaking up the sunshine.
Paula is remembered as a beautiful, caring, forgiving, fun loving woman, who had a gift of making others feel special. Most of all, Paula enjoyed celebrations and spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family and the many friends she made through life.
Beloved mother of Michael Casey & his wife Leticia DiPipi of PA, Stephen Casey & his wife Debra Hunt of RI, Mark Casey & his wife Laura of Andover, Kristin Reino & her husband Christopher of North Hatfield, Peter Casey & his wife Andrea of Medford and the late Christopher Casey. Loving grandmother of Alyssa & Christopher Casey, Elena & John Casey, Emma & James Casey & Casey Reino. Caring sister of Carol Romkey of Billerica and the late Joanne Sweeney. Former wife of Joseph Casey. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4:00-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Great Rock Church, 256 Andover St., Danvers, on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
