Obituary for Peter Brown Brennan

July 12, 1943 – May 2, 2025

Peter Brown Brennan, a devoted father, loving grandfather, cherished brother, and proud Vietnam veteran, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and family devotion. He was 81 years old.

Born on July 12, 1943, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Peter was the beloved son of the late Joseph F. Brennan and Marguerite K. Brennan. He grew up surrounded by a close-knit family, which remained central to his life.

Peter served honorably in the United States military during the Vietnam War, a time that deeply marked his life with both hardship and honor. Following his service, he demonstrated an extraordinary work ethic throughout his 40-year career with New England Telephone. Peter was known for his dedication, reliability, and quiet professionalism - qualities that earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of his family. His commitment to hard work was a defining trait that he carried throughout his life.

In his free time, he enjoyed frequent trips to Disney World, which was one of his favorite destinations.

A passionate and skilled woodworker, he took pride in crafting everything from fine cabinetry to large construction projects. Always generous with his time and talents, Peter was a constant source of support for those he loved, never hesitating to lend a hand with any project.

Peter is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Marie Veenhof, and her husband, Benny Veenhof, and by his devoted brothers, Joseph Fitzhenry Brennan of Lady Lake, FL, and Michael Rufus Brennan of Arlington, MA. His memory lives on through his grandchildren: Shane Perez-Brennan, Sheena Regnere, Taylor Stanton, Oliver Degnan, Oscar Degnan, Eric Mayo, and Anthony Veenhof. He was also blessed to witness the next generation through his great-grandchildren: Brantley, Brennan, Zephyr, Finley, Forrest, Idris, Brockton, Winslet, Knox, and Arlo.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved daughter Kimberly Anne Brennan and his brother Thomas John Brennan, whose memories he held close.

Known for his quiet wit, gentle strength, and fierce loyalty to those he loved, Peter brought comfort and steadiness to the lives of those around him. He was a man of few words, but deep and lasting impact—a legacy felt by everyone in his family.

His passing leaves a profound void, but his spirit endures in the laughter of his grandchildren, the wisdom he shared, and the strong family he helped build. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 10AM, followed by the interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
