Peter M. Hynds, of Middleton, formerly of Wakefield, died at home on August 17th, 2022 at the age of 71. He was born in Melrose, MA on August 29, 1950 to the late Francis and Teresa (Turner) Hynds. Peter was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School where he played hockey and baseball. After high school Peter served honorably in the United States Navy.
Peter would eventually settle in Wakefield, MA to raise his family and remained there for many years. He was a proud veteran and remained a part of the veteran community through the Melrose VFW on Chipman Ave., and being a social person, he was also an active member of the Elks Club and the American Legion. Peter enjoyed traveling with his wife Gloria of 36 years, as well as spending time with family. He was an avid New England sports fan, rarely missing a game.
Peter was the beloved husband of Gloria J. (Currier) Hynds. Loving father of Michele Means & her wife Jessica of Melrose, Jeffrey Hynds of Ft. Lauderdale, Jennifer Cassidy & her husband Christopher of Lynnfield, Meredith Roycroft & her husband Allen of Wakefield, Rebecca Pappalardo & her husband Kurt of Billerica, and the late Warren Christopher McLean, III. Proud grandfather of Zachary, Jade, Megan, Tylor, Olivia, Faith, James, Justin, Michael, Adam, Hope, and Josephine. Brother of the late Francis Hynds of Plymouth. Also survived by many relatives and friends.
Visiting Hours will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Gately Funeral Home. Interment with military honors to follow at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Warren C.
