Philip Shea, known as Phil to his friends and family of Andover, MA, died peacefully on March 9th, 2024. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 26 years, Janet Shea, he is survived by his two children, Deborah and Jeffrey Shea, daughter-in-law Valerie Shea and grandchildren Owen and Stella Shea. Born in 1938, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Shea and raised in Gardiner, Maine. He was a proud graduate of Colby College, where he played football for the Mules. After graduating, he moved to Boston and earned a law degree at Suffolk Law School. He was a founding partner of Shea, Dangora & Nelson in Billerica, MA.

Phil's true loves were outside the workplace. The first was his love for all Boston sports. Two real highlights were attending the Red Sox World Series clinching victory in St. Louis in 2004 and the 2019 Super Bowl with his daughter in Atlanta, where he finally saw the Patriots win it all in person. The second was his love for skiing and Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine, where he took his family skiing every weekend from November until April for decades. The third was his love for fishing, and he often traveled to Alaska to be there for very specific salmon runs, bringing back salmon for friends and family. Phil retired from practicing law in 2002 and became a starter at the Red Tail Golf Club in Devens, MA, a job he loved. Most of all, Phil just enjoyed spending quality time with his friends and family, including his grandchildren who he adored. In the last months of his life, he was still attending Colby hockey games and meeting his friends for lunch and other adventures.

Family and friends are invited to join a celebration of Phil's life on March 17th from 10am - 1pm at the Willowdale Estate, 24 Asbury Street in Topsfield, MA. In light of Phil's generosity, and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Toys for Tots (www.toysfortots.org) or a charity of your choice.
