Philip A. Tedesco passed away at his home in Stoneham on Sunday July 1, 2012. He was 94 years of age. Mr. Tedesco was born in Belmont on November 22, 1917 to the late Philip & Josephine (Capraro) Tedesco. He was raised in Belmont and attended Belmont Schools. Philip worked as a welder at the General Electric Jet Engine Plant in Lynn for 40 years. After his retirement he started his own welding company and continued to work for several years doing small jobs in the Melrose area. Mr. Tedesco enjoyed oil painting, working with stain glass making lamps and decorations and playing bridge with his friends at the Senior Center in Stoneham. Most of all, he loved to play tennis with his friends and continued to play right up to the age of 85. Philip was the beloved husband of the late Ellen E. (Ilmonen) Tedesco. Loving father of MaryEllen Doyle & her husband Henry of Melrose, Lisa Tedesco of Stoneham and the late Philip & William Tedesco. Devoted grandfather of Christopher Doyle of Wakefield, Sean Doyle, Jessica Doyle and Erin Bunten & her husband David all of Melrose. Special friend to his caregiver Debbie Siefert. Brother of the late Lou & William Tedesco and Mary Balsama. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday morning July 5th from 8:30-9:30AM. Followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
