Phyllis M. Brown passed away at Golden Living Center in Melrose, on November 29, 2007. She was 95 years of age. She was born in Boston, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and a 2-year secretarial school. Phyllis worked as a secretary at Mass. Eye & Ear for a few years, in public relations at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for several years and was secretary to the director of the Melrose Public Library for 21 years. Miss Brown was a lifelong resident of Melrose, a member of the Melrose Historical Society, the Melrose Humane Society and enjoyed arts & crafts. Phyllis was a unique and accomplished woman who lived independently and courageously. A menagerie of animals gave her enormous pleasure.. Cherished friend of Dennis & Molly Kelley and Family of Melrose. Lovingly cared for by the nurses & staff at Melrose Care Center. Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melrose Public Library, 69 W.
