Phyllis M. Crowell passed away at the Epoch of Melrose on Sunday February 9, 2014. She was 88 years of age. She was born in Melrose to the late John & Anne (Shields) Hallahan on May 3, 1926. Phyllis was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and was a lifelong resident in Melrose. Mrs. Crowell worked for over 40 years at State Street Bank in Boston. She enjoyed summering on North River Lake in Barrington, NH for many years, loved to travel to Florida and the Carribean with her late husband Kenneth as well as going on cruises with Ken and her friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth R. Crowell. Sister of John Hallahan Jr. and the late Barbara Morphew, Eileen Hallahan and Thomas Hallahan. Aunt of Thomas Hallahan Jr, Wendy Wahl, Thomas McPherson, Linda Ryan, Frank Hallahan, Mary Ellen Ewert and Karen LeClaire. Also survived by several grand nieces and grand nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, February 12th from 10AM-11AM, followed by at 11AM service at the funeral home. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose following the service.
