Phyllis A. (O'Brien) Lawless passed away at the Golden Living Center in Gloucester, on Saturday, April 10, 2010. She was 85 years of age. Phyllis was born in Boston on March 2, 1925 to the late William & Eva (Buckley) O'Brien. She was raised in Chelsea, graduated from St. Rose Grammar School and Chelsea High School, Class of 1939. Mrs. Lawless lived in Winchester the past 5 years and was a resident of Stoneham for over 40 years. Phyllis worked as a sales clerk at Filenes in downtown Boston for over 15 years. Mrs. Lawless was a longtime member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham, where she was a member of the St. Patrick Church Mother's Club. Phyllis was a talented artist, enjoyed painting with her friends at the Arts School on Main Street in Melrose, liked playing the piano and was a great cook. Mrs. Lawless cherished the times spent with her family. She was the devoted wife of 62 years to the late Albert J. Lawless. Loving mother of Joyce M. Finnegan & her husband Bill of Stoneham, Kevin W. Lawless & his wife Judy of Haverhill, Albert J. Lawless Jr. & his wife Patty of SC, Jean M. Scibelli of Chelsea and Joseph M. lawless & his wife Marsha of Lynnfield. Sister of the late Virginia Murphy. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wed. April 14th, at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in Phyllis memory will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited.
