Quincy King, of Melrose, passed away on September 30, 2021 at the age of 70. He was born in Boston on June 20, 1951, was raised in Boston, and attended Boston Public Schools. He was the husband of Jeannie King of Melrose. Father of Abigail King and Quincy King II, both of Melrose. Brother of Eleanor King of Melrose.
He was a physician assistant that specialized in vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, as well as specialization in critical care expertise. Over his career he worked at Tufts Medical, Lahey Burlington, Mount Auburn and Cape Cod Hospital. Since 2016, he served as Surgical House Officer, covering all sub-specialties at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth. Known to his friends and colleagues as "the Q", he was devoted and exceptionally skilled. To family, he was known as "Big Q" "Dad" and sometimes "DAAAAAD"; he embodied service before self.
Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021. Interment to follow the Funeral Mass at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave., Jamaica Plain, Boston. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Quincy's family kindly requests all visitors wear face coverings to the wake and funeral mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
