Richard D. Botolino died at home June 10th at the age of 66. Richard was born in Boston, raised in Cambridge, graduated from Ringe Technical School Class of 1954 in Cambridge. Richard has always remained very close to his Cambridge friends and enjoyed the frequent get togethers they shared. He was the founder and owner of the Botco Corp., originally the Botolino Home Improvement, which he started over 30 years ago and his sons continue to operate. He also was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 3. Richard has been living in Melrose since 1954, summered in Ogunquit Maine since 1974, was a member of the Ogunquit Elks and relished his fall trips to Vermont and his Florida winter vacations. Richard was an active member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served in US Army for the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War. He was very active in the 82nd Airborne Alumni Skydivers and continued to jump from 1954 to 1984. Richard was a member and bartender at the Melrose Knights of Columbus for over 20yrs and he was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He was the husband of Joanna (Pilato) Botolino. Father of Gregory J. Botolino of Revere, Richard D. Botolino Jr. & his wife Donatella of Saugus and David M. Botolino of Melrose. Brother of Marjorie Mattuchio of Saugus, John Botolino of Arlington and the late Robert Botolino. Grandfather of Niccolo, Masimo and Denali Botolino. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. June 13th at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited.
