Richard D. Cerretani, of Pocasset, died at home on Oct. 7, 2015 at the age of 84. Richard was born & raised in Wakefield and attended Wakefield Schools. He resided in Wakefield for 30 years, Melrose for 40 years and the past 10 years in Pocasset. Richard was a co owner of Cerretani Supermarket's in Melrose, Revere and Reading, a former member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose & Hillview Golf Club in N. Reading for many years and part of the "Hole in One" club. He served his country in the National Guard for many years and was a member of the Bowling League in Pocasset. Richard was a gentle and easy going man who enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Las Vegas and Italy. He was the beloved husband of Annie C. "Nancy" (Canavan) Cerretani for 63 years. Loving father of Mary McBride & her husband Joby of Lynnfield, Richard Cerretani & his wife Kathy of FL, Ann McGreer of AL, Eileen Ventola & her husband Nick of FL, Claire Choquette & her husband Chuck of RI and Sharon Cerretani of Melrose. Caring brother of John Cerretani of Stoneham, late Orlando "Joe" Cerretani, Ralph Cerretani, Charles Cerretani, James Cerretani, Fannie Miller, Ruth Piccirilli, and William Cerretani. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, many nieces & nephews and family in Ireland & England. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Oct. 9th from 4-8PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday at 9:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
