Obituary

Richard A. 'Dick' Jackman died at Beth Israel Hospital on Nov. 4th after a brief illness at the age of 67. Dick was born in Wakefield, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and has lived in Lexington the past 27 years. Dick started out working for his father's company, Jackman Brothers Roofing of Boston and then developed his own company R.A. Jackman General Contracting which he owned and operated for many years. He was a member of the Melrose Lodge of Elks, Past Exalted Ruler of the Melrose Lodge of Elks three times and held every office at the Elks during his 37 years as a member. Dick was also a member of the Past Exalted Rulers Assoc. and was instrumental in the day to day operation of the Melrose Elks. He was the husband of Karen (Hardy) Jackman. Father of Jennifer Jackman and Julie Anne Jackman both of Lexington. Brother of Frank Jackman of Melrose, Virginia P. Sentner of Wakefield and the late Madeline Goodrich, Doris Mahoney, Carol Schueler and John Jackman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Nov. 8th at 9 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 3-9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Joslin Clinic 1 Joslin Place Boston 02115. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. Past Exalted Rule Melrose Elks.
