Richard C. Magown, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on July 12, 2012 at the age of 84. Richard was born & raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Magown worked as an Ornamental Iron Worker Forman for Conway & Cannon Company in South Boston for 40 years. Richard was a member of Mt. Hood Golf Club in Melrose and coached hockey for many years. He enjoyed golfing, playing hockey, gardening, skiing, woodworking, the Irish Village on Cape Cod and traveling to Florida with his wife during the winter months. He was the beloved husband of Theresa A. (McCormack) Magown. Loving father of Deborah Magown of Cambridge and Donna Magown & her husband Roger Wentworth of Melrose. Devoted brother of the late Robert & John Magown. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 230 Beech St., Revere, MA on Wednesday July 18th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
