Richard H. Watkins passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on January 28, 2010. He was 79 years of age. Richard was born in Keene, NH on May 5, 1930 to the late Robert Watkins & Grace (Sweeney) Watkins Barron. He was raised in Keene, NH, lived in Lowville, NY for 20 years and Melrose for the past 20 years. Mr. Watkins proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduated of the University of New Hampshire. Richard worked in banking and insurance and then taught business at Lowville Academy in Lowville, NY for several years. He was the husband of Cynthia (Collier) Watkins. Father of Mary Patenaude of Dunlap, TN & Kimberly Field of Melrose. Brother of Barbara Fleming of Chula Vista, CA, Edward Watkins of Lowville, NY & Julia Jackson of Long Beach, CA. Following Mr. Watkins wishes, he has been cremated and a memorial gathering will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Sat. Feb. 6th from 1:00-4:00PM.
