Rita M. Covelluzzi of Danvers, formerly of Saugus died on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Atrium in Danvers. She was 87 years old. Born on September 25, 1925 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Rose (Nutile) Covelluzzi. Rita was raised in the North End and lived half her life there. She moved to Saugus in the 1960's and lived there until 2010 and then spent the last few years in Danvers. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years with Viking Seafoods of Malden, retiring in 1987. Miss Covelluzzi was very religious, a member of the Church of the Incarnation of Melrose, enjoyed taking care of her family, vacationing, swimming, was an avid reader and loved music. She was the loving sister of James Covelluzzi & his wife Bernadette of Florida, the late Michael Covelluzzi & his wife Caroline of Saugus, the late Dominic & Anthony Covelluzzi, Theresa LaTerza & Emma Jones. Cherished Aunt of Roseann Novello & her husband Joseph of Reading, Jean Dearstyne of Saugus, Janice Welch of Braintree, Andrew Covelluzzi & his partner Nui Yosaeng of Saugus, James Covelluzzi & his wife Bernadette of Lynnfield, Ronald LaTerza & his wife Lois of NH & Kenneth Jones of Peabody. Also survived by many grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces & great grand nephews. Rita's funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, February 2nd with a visitation period from 8:30-9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in the Church of the Incarnation 429 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will follow.
