Rita M. (Rohde) Curtis passed away at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Melrose on Dec. 9th at the age of 84. Rita was born and raised in Cambridge and lived in Cambridge for many years. Rita was a homemaker, a resident of Melrose for 50 years and the past 6 of those years at the Levi Gould Building in Melrose. She was the wife of the late Glenn T. Curtis. Daughter of the late John T. & Mary (Flanagan) Rohde. Mother of Glenn T. Curtis & his wife Kelly of Melrose and Dorothea A. DeFio & her husband Alex of AZ. Grandmother of Cheryl Bowen & her husband Les of OH, Kelly Banta & her husband Richard of AZ, Kendra Curtis of Melrose and Adam Curtis of CA. Sister-in-law of Dorothea Curtis Pickens of Melrose. Great grandmother of Kimberly, Amy & Richard Banta, Shantel, Tyler & Nichole Bowen and David Lange. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, 70 W. Emerson St. Melrose, on Sat. Dec. 20th at 4:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Internment will be private.
