Rita M. MacPhee passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital, on September 18, 2007. She was 58 years of age. Rita was born in Malden, raised in the Bowdoin St. Projects and attended Malden Schools. Miss MacPhee came to Melrose in 1966. She worked for John Hancock Insurance Company for a short time and then in the medical records division at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 18 years. Rita was a people person who was loved by all that met her and had a great sense of humor with a contagious laugh. She loved her trips to Honey Dew Donuts, old movies, the TV show Big Brother and enjoyed bingo & crossword puzzles. She was a past commander for the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Harold OYoung Post # 2394 and a resident at the McCarthy House in Melrose. Loving daughter of Theresa M. (Meuse) MacPhee & the late Peter A. MacPhee of Melrose. Cherished sister of Patricia A. Stooks & her husband Robert of NY, Brian D. MacPhee & his wife Joanne of Melrose and Mary M. Darragh & her husband Robert of RI. Beloved aunt of Jen, Allison, Emily, Brian, Theresa, Paul, Bobby & Melissa. Devoted great aunt to Morgan, Madelyn & Shaun. Also survived by many cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday Sept. 21s, t at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose, at 10:30AM.
