Robert Clement Barry of Melrose, died peacefully, Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the Golden Living Elmhurst Center in Melrose. He was 87 years old. Born on April 2, 1923, a son of the late John F. & Lauretta (McKearney) Barry, he was raised in Somerville and a 1941 graduate of Somerville High School. After high school, he served proudly in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Barry spent his entire working career with New England Telephone, only missing 2 days during his almost 40 years of service. He was a Melrose resident since 1963, loved his family, working around the house and summering in Falmouth. Along with his wife Nancy and their children, they were one of the first family members of the Incarnation Church of Melrose. Robert was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Anne (Daley) Barry, with whom they shared 55 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Sheila Ann Barry of Melrose, Robert Clement Barry, Jr. & his wife Wendy of Andover, Michael John Barry & his wife Eileen of Newburyport & Kevin Thomas Barry of Melrose. Devoted grandfather of Robert Clement III, & David Richard of Andover, Michael John, Richard Thomas, Christopher Patrick, John Terrence, Brian Joseph & the late Joseph Edward Barry, all of Newburyport. Caring brother of Edna Schaake & the late John F. Barry & Mildred Morrissey. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, April 29th at 9AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4-8PM.
