Robert J. Barton, 89, died at Melrose - Wakefield Hospital Monday after a brief illness. Born and raised in Boston, he had lived in Melrose for the past 57 yrs. Bob was a machinist at Simplex Wire Cable Co of Cambridge for 29 yrs. and for 10 yrs. he was employed at Automatic Radio in Melrose until he retired in 1975. Robert was a parishioner of St Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E (Bradbury) Barton. Father of Janet Clark of FL, John R. Barton & his wife Debbie of Medford and Linda Burns & her husband Bill of Stoneham. Grandfather of Clifford, Russell, Michael, Christine, Jeffrey, Amanda and Stephanie. Great grandfather of Zachary and Karissa. Brother of Alice McLaughlin of AZ and the late Herbert, James, Edward, Wlliam, George & Francis Barton and Helen Harris. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Thursday Nov 14 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church corner of Herbert & Myrtle Sts, Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
