Robert E. Drew Sr. passed away at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the age of 82. Robert was born in Malden on January 18, 1928 to the late Elmer & Mildred (Weeks) Drew. He was raised in Everett & Malden, lived in Melrose for 40 years, 15 years in Salem, NH and the past 2 years in Arizona. Mr. Drew served in the Marines during WWII. Robert summered on Sokokis Lake in Limerick, Maine since 1970, where he enjoyed spending time on his boat. He was a truck driver for Trimount Asphalt Company and White Fuel Company for 36 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #25. Bob was a talented artist, enjoyed building car & airplane models and he loved his 5 Boston Terriers he had throughout his life. Mr. Drew loved spending time with his family and was the patriarch of the Drew family since the age 13. Bob had a great sense of humor, was a very warm and charming person, an avid reader, a great singer and loved history. Mr. Drew was the beloved husband of 61 years to Lois A. (Moore) Drew. Loving father of Robert E. Drew Jr. & his wife Kathleen of AZ, Stephen L. Drew & his wife Helen of PA and Diane M. Streeter & her husband Don of NH. Devoted brother of James E. Drew of CA and the late William A., Jon F. and Richard T. Drew. Cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Also survived by several adoring nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, October 2nd at 8AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Bob's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
