Robert A. Eaves, of Melrose, formerly of Naples, Fl & Chelsea, died at the Brightview in Danvers on Dec. 31, 2016 at the age of 95. Robert was born & raised in Chelsea and a graduate of Chelsea High School. He resided in Chelsea for 40 years, 17 years in Naples, Fl and several years in Danvers. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Bob worked as a Assistant Director for the Chelsea Redevelopment Authority for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Sagamore Club in Chelsea and enjoyed playing cards, walking Revere Beach and was a Boston Red Sox fan. Bob was a kind & generous family man and was so devoted to his wife's care during her lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Tully) Eaves for 67 years. Loving father of Robert A. Eaves, Jr. & his wife Karen of MD and Ruth M. Cullen & her late husband Dan of Melrose. Caring brother of the late Thomas Eaves & his wife Irma of Revere. Cherished grandfather of Robert A. Eaves III, Taylor Eaves, Daniel Cullen and Sarah Scott. Great grandfather of Drew & Liam Cullen. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, Jan. 5th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 6th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM.
