Obituary

Robert Paul "Bob" Giannini of Melrose, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and was only 62 years old. Born in Boston, MA on October 25, 1945 to the late Paula (Gallo) Giannini & Carmen Giannini, he was raised in Jamaica Plain & Somerville. He graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1963 and then joined the United States Air Force and served proudly as an Airman First Class during the Vietnam War. Mr. Giannini worked as a welder for the General Electric Company of Lynn for 37 years. He enjoyed his work, his yard, building things, being a handy man, listening to Rock & Roll Music, cars, air shows, the military, the Modern Marvels TV Show, fish tanks, cook outs & Oriental Art. He also became a big Red Sox fan. However, his most important love was his family. He was a big "family" man and came from a large Italian family. Bob was the beloved husband of Frances M. (Larkin) Giannini with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Robert S. Giannini of Hyannis, Laura M. (Giannini) Boutin & her husband Robert of Plymouth, Andrea L. Giannini & Michael A. Giannini, both of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Riley T. & Olivia G. Boutin of Plymouth. Caring brother of Peter Giannini & his wife Ann of Canton, Phyllis Gill & her husband Charles of CA, Maryann Dargon & her husband James of Hampton, NH, Dolores Giannini of Somerville, Joseph Omogrosso & his wife Claire of Derry, NH, Beth Oliveira & her husband Daniel of Woburn and the late Carmen Giannini. Special uncle of Eleanor Giannini-Brittain & her husband Julian of Wakefield and Jason Oliveira of Clinton & Samantha Oliveira of Woburn. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral service in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Mon. Aug. 11th at 8 PM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours from 4-8PM. Interment is private. Deacon Frank Valeri of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Wakefield will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 837 P.O.
