Robert J. "Bob" Cox, of Saugus, passed away on September 13, 2016 at the age of 63. Bob was born in Lynn, on January 24, 1953, to Joseph & Gertrude (Sybil) Cox. He was a lifelong resident of Saugus and a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1971. After high school Bob earned a Bachelor's Degree in economics from Northeastern University, class of 1976, where he served as president of the Student Federation. After a career working in transportation and logistics, he retired as Director of Logistics at Future Electronics. Bob was very active in the Town of Saugus, serving for many years as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, as Chairman of the Saugus Board of Affordable Housing, and as a member of the Town Meeting. In addition to his work with the town, Bob gave his time generously to charity—particularly to Greater Lynn Senior Services and The Mass Commission for the Blind. The most important part of Bob's life was his family; Bob and his wife Karen raised their two girls, Megan and Erin, in Saugus. He loved taking them to Disney World. Bob was also an avid reader and sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. Robert was the beloved husband of Karen (Doyle) Cox of Saugus. Loving father of Megan Cox, PhD & her husband Zak Kosan of Hopkinton, MA, and Erin Cox of Saugus. Son of Gertrude (Sybil) Cox and the late Joseph Cox. Brother of Donald Cox & wife Carolyn of Maryland, uncle of Theresa and Elizabeth. Also survived by his grand-dog Dobby. He will be greatly missed by them all. Visiting Hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 from 5 PM – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret's Church, 431 Lincoln Ave., Saugus, on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at 12:00 PM. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
