Robert Allen Laughton, Jr., 67, of Middleboro, MA, formerly of Peabody, MA, passed away on August 19th, 2023, at his home with his loving wife Mary by his side. Bob was born January 26th, 1956, in Malden, MA, the second child of Robert Allen Laughton, Sr. and Adelaide (White) Laughton.

Bob graduated from Malden High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Bob held many successful jobs, from a truck driver, driving for the MBTA, as well as owning his own home heating fuel business, Laughton Fuel. After graduating at the top of his class from New England Fuel Institute as a heating technician, Bob was able to fix almost anything. Whatever the job, he did it with great responsibility and passion.

When Bob was not working, he loved to spend time with his family, taking cruises to Bermuda, or watching a game at the AOH, Moose Lodge or at the Beachmont Yacht Club in Revere, MA, where he spent many years as their Commodore. An avid boater and lover of the sea, he was always happiest on the ocean.

Bob is survived by his loving wife and best friend of over 20 years, Mary Laughton. Bob was a loving and proud father to his three children and two step children, Robert A. Laughton, III (Maria) of Avon, OH; Justin Laughton (David) of Medford, MA; and Jennifer Laughton (Jason) of Malden, MA and affectionately known as Bob-o-link to his step-daughter, Tracy Smith (Patrick) of Lakeville, MA and step-son, Thomas Gillespie (Heather) of Boston, MA.

Bob is survived by his 10 grandchildren who he adored, his older sister Carole Rabideau of Dover, NH as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother Charles "Chuckie" Laughton.

Visitation will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 2:00PM – 6:00PM, followed by a service at 6:00PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
