Robert J. Roddy, of Melrose, formerly of Medford, died at his home on Nov. 4, 2007 at the age of 63. Bob was born in Medford, raised in Charlestown and a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1962. He attended Northeastern University and worked as a Computer Programmer for Polaroid Corp., Bell Laboratories and Network World in Southborough for many years until his retirement at the age of 60. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Medford, taught CCD in Medford and was active in Drum & Bugle Corp for many years. He was an avid historian, loved computers, old electronics, remodeling his home and flea markets. Bob was the beloved husband and best friend of Loretta A. (Lucas) Roddy. Loving father of Robert J. Griffin & his wife Denise of Burlington, Daniel M. Griffin & his wife Pamela of Londonderry, NH and Tammy L. Griffin of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Robby, Julia, Ashley and Matthew. Caring brother of Thomas Roddy & his wife Kathleen of Nashua, NH, Patricia Guilfoyle & her husband Frank of MI and Mary Krempels & her husband David of Portsmouth, NH. Brother in law of Keith Higgins of Melrose. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces & grandnephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday Nov. 9th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8PM.
