Robert S. "Bob" Shaw of Berwick, Maine, formerly of Malden, died on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, New Hampshire with his loving family by his side. He was 76 yrs. old. Born in Melrose, Massachusetts on June 1, 1935, he was one of six children to the late Stanley S. & Marie C. (Moore) Shaw. He was raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. Mr. Shaw enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 and served our country proudly for over 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. After his time in the military, Bob worked as a maintenance supervisor at Our Lady of the Nazareth in Wakefield, the Levi Gould Retirement Home in Melrose & the Park Terrace Condominiums in Stoneham. He enjoyed playing golf, eating out; landscaping his yard, woodworking and remodeling however, his pride and joy was his wife Ruth and their three children. Bob was a Malden resident for 25 years and most recently lived in Berwick Maine for the last year. Robert was the devoted & loving husband of Ruth M. (Gardner) Shaw, with whom they shared 56 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Debra A. Piasecki & her husband Peter of Chelsea, Cheryl A. Crowley & her husband Charles of NH & Robert S. Shaw, Jr. & his wife Yang of Ohio. Cherished grandfather of Deanna, Corey, Jimmy, Mike, Charlie, Heidi & Heather. Proud Great Grandfather of Mariana, Shayla, Annalise & Tyson. Caring brother of Ruth Oathout & her late husband Ralph of Lynn, John Shaw & his wife Aileen of Reading, Maureen Nickolau & her husband Robert, also of Lynn, Stephen Shaw & his wife Joyce of FL & the late David Shaw & his wife Carol of Melrose. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. Bob's visiting hours will be on Monday, April 30th in the Gately Funeral home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose. His Funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1st at 8AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Bob's life will be held in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM.
