Robert A. "Bob" Skaare, Sr., of Melrose, died unexpectedly on June 29, 2017 at the age of 70. Bob was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, a graduate Melrose High School, Class of 1964 and was pitcher for the Melrose high baseball team. He was the owner of Bob Skaare Trucking for many years, was a lifelong Melrose resident and member of the Melrose Fish & Game. Bob was "Good Guy", well respected, very social to everyone and always very generous with his time helping others. He was an avid golfer and member of the Mt. Hood Golf Club in Melrose for many years. Bob enjoyed fishing, football, camping in Sunapee, NH, and spending time with his grandson Jackson. He loved his corvette, his dogs and spending time with his family. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn M. (Johnson) Skaare, who he was hopelessly in love with for over 48 years. Loving father of Robert A. Skaare II & his wife Jessica of MD, Jonathan A. Skaare & his wife Noemi of TX and Kathleen M. Crosby & her husband Daniel of Newton. Cherished grandfather of Jackson. Caring brother of Richard Skaare & his wife Jane of PA. Brother in law of Judy Scarinci & her husband Donald and Arthur Johnson & his wife Lorraine, all of Amesbury. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, July 6th from 4-8PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, July 7th at 8AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM.
